Grameen Foundation USA (GFUSA) Partners with Development Associates
Development Associates recently carried out due diligence assessment studies on five Microfinance institutions (MFIs) who are potential partners of GFUSA in Nigeria.
Of these three MFI’s including Self Reliance Economic Advancement Programme (SEAP), Development Education Centre (DEC), and Lift Above Poverty Organization (LAPO) were finally selected for formal partnership by GFUSA.
As a follow up a training workshop on Business Process Mapping (“BPM”) Methodology was held by GFUSA after which DA facilitated BPM at three MFI Institutions: DEC in Bauchi, SEAP in Ilorin and LAPO in Benin City. As a result of the BPM exercise, DEC is currently focusing their efforts on installing an MIS and LAPO is updating their plans for transformation. GFUSA is providing technical assistance for these two projects, and will likely revisit a BPM-focused activity once the initial MIS pilot (at DEC) and transformation plans (at LAPO) have been completed. As for SEAP, they have already updated their loan approval and disbursement process based on the recommendations from the PM exercise. DA continues to partner with GFUSA on the provision of tailored technical assistance to GFUSA partners in Nigeria.
