Promoting Improved Sustainable Microfinance Services (PRISMS) On-going: DA is member of a Chemonics International led consortium to develop a US$5 million project on a microfinance intervention program in Nigeria. The purpose of this thirty month project is: to assess, design, and implement a new program to increase access to critical financial services for micro and small enterprises in Nigeria. The scope of the work include improved policy and regulatory environment, with a focus on appropriate supervision and oversight of MFIs and SME financial institutions; strengthening microfinance institutions and increase capacity and interest of financial institutions to provide services and products to small and medium enterprises. DA is responsible for the provision of local technical support on financial services to MSME to the program in addition to market research and general advisory services to the project management unit.

Microfinance Market Assessment and Business Plan Africap & United bank for Africa April August 2003: United Bank of Africa (“UBA”) and Africap have commissioned DA to review the current provision of micro finance in the informal economy in Nigeria, together with a feasibility study on the formation of a commercial micro finance program, as part of the Bank’s overall strategy to strengthen the provision of retail services in the Bank’s branch network. The mission also outlines the proposed structure of the program together with how the project might fit within the Bank’s existing structure from a legal, business and operational perspective.
